Why were the directors scared of CBF?

In a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Rajkumar Santoshi said, ‘In my film The Legend of Bhagat Singh, instead of the popular take of Mahatma Gandhi, I had taken a different take. Gandhi Godse is a different take of Gandhi even in a war. I was really scared whether the film would pass in the censor board or not, but the board did not cut even a single word of the film. It is known that in this movie, Chinmay Mandlekar has played the role of Nathuram Godse and Deepak Antani has played the role of Mahatma Gandhi.
