Rajnath Singh Bhupendra Yadav will appoint next CM of Odisha


Odisha CM: BJP has appointed Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav as central observers for the appointment of the new Chief Minister of Odisha. This was announced by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh.

Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav took oath as cabinet ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday (May 9, 2024). Earlier also, BJP spokesperson and oath taking ceremony in-charge Dilip Mohanty had said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new CM of Odisha will now be held on June 12. PM Modi will also attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new CM of Odisha.

VK Pandian retired from politics

Meanwhile, another news came out, where Biju Janata Dal leader and close aide of former CM Naveen Patnaik, VK Pandian on Sunday announced his retirement from active politics after the party’s defeat in the Odisha Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The special thing is that PK Pandian is a 2000 batch IAS officer and has worked as Naveen Patnaik’s personal secretary for more than two decades. In 2023, he resigned from the job, after which he joined the Biju Janata Dal.

Patnaik’s 24 year old rule came to an end

Talking about the Odisha assembly elections, the Biju Janata Dal, which was in power for a long time, had to face defeat against the BJP. CM Naveen Patnaik’s 24-year-old rule came to an end. Out of 147 seats in Odisha, the BJP got 78 seats, BJD got 51, which was far behind the majority figure. Congress got 14 seats. Lok Sabha Elections In 2015, BJP won 20 out of 21 seats in Odisha. One seat went to Congress.
