Rajya Sabha Elections 2024 Update: The upcoming Rajya Sabha elections are to be held on 27th February, in which 6 seats of Maharashtra are included. Regarding this, the alliance of ruling parties (BJP, Ajit Pawar’s NCP and Eknath Shinde Shiv Sena) claims that Mahayuti will get 5 seats out of these. Out of these five seats, three seats will go to BJP’s account.
Meanwhile, quoting sources, there is news that BJP has released the list of names of 9 candidates for Rajya Sabha and has sent it to Delhi. Because of this, the final decision on who will get nomination for Rajya Sabha from BJP will be decided by the top leaders of the party sitting in Delhi.

The names of Narayan Rane, Vinod Tawde, Pankaja Munde, Vijaya Rahatkar, Amrish Patel, Madhav Bhandari, Chitra Wagh, Harshvardhan Patil and Sanjay Upadhyay are included in the list sent by BJP to Delhi. In such a situation, it will now be important to see which 3 out of these 9 leaders will get a chance to file nomination for Rajya Sabha.
Voting will be held on 27th February
The Election Commission had announced on January 29 that voting for 56 Rajya Sabha seats in 15 states would be held on February 27. The tenure of 50 Rajya Sabha members from 13 states is going to end on April 2, while six members from two states are going to retire on April 3.

The states in the country where Rajya Sabha elections are to be held include Uttar Pradesh (10), Maharashtra (6), Bihar (6), West Bengal (5), Madhya Pradesh (5), Gujarat (4), Karnataka (4), Andhra Pradesh. (3), Telangana (3), Rajasthan (3), Odisha (3), Uttarakhand (1), Chhattisgarh (1), Haryana (1), and Himachal Pradesh (1).
The tenure of a member of Rajya Sabha is six years. The Election Commission had issued notification on Thursday (February 7) for elections on six Rajya Sabha seats of Bihar. The tenure of the MPs on these six seats is ending next month. Whereas in Rajasthan, the process of nomination for three Rajya Sabha seats started on February 8.
