Now Arjun Kapoor has also broken his silence on this matter and talked about women’s safety on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.

Arjun Kapoor has shared a video on his Instagram in which he has told that Raksha Bandhan is related to the safety of women. The actor said that men should learn and be taught how women can be made to feel safe. In the video, Arjun said- ‘I am going to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with my sisters.’

Arjun told the meaning of Raksha Bandhan
The actor says, ‘With all that is happening, it feels strange to celebrate a festival that is all about protecting each other, protecting your sisters, protecting the women in your life, the women you love, the women you care about. While we see so much suffering and lack of basic understanding and education among so many men.’

‘Why are we not taught that…’
Arjun Kapoor further said- ‘When we celebrate Rakhi, we talk about being a brother, taking care. Why are we not taught how to make the environment so safe that all our sisters can move around without a brother? Being physically around for protection and care all the time, yes, I know that scene is something that we have become used to that brother is security or man is security.’

Said this about men
The actor said- ‘I think somewhere we need to teach other men that they need to make women feel safe and not teach men to protect women. This is a very big conversation. I think there is a lot of education in it. There is a lot of conversation and a lot of basic understanding that is lacking in our eco-system.’

‘It’s been on my mind for a long time…’
Arjun did not stop here, he further said- ‘I don’t know how much this will change the way people think. But think this is something that has been going on in my mind for a long time. Why have you always said to protect yourself? For a long time yes, sometimes you feel that there is not much discussion on this because people do not understand it, but I thought so I have put it in front of the universe.’

‘Being a brother…’
The actor said- ‘And hopefully, even if it affects some people, at least it is a starting point for a conversation. As a brother, as a man, I think we need to change the way we look at the women in our lives. I think somewhere men need to be taught how to let women feel safe around them, and not just be there to protect them.’

This advice was given to men
Finally Arjun Kapoor says- ‘I think it will be a big lesson if we can make the women and girls around us feel safe. Not just for their safety, but to stand around them, to live their life. I just hope that many men think about how they can support the women in their lives and make them strong and powerful by making them feel safe.’
