PM Modi on Swami Smaranananda: Shrimat Swami Smarananand Ji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, passed away late in the night of Tuesday (March 26, 2024). Swami Smaranananda, who was ill for a few weeks, was undergoing treatment in the hospital. He died at the age of 95. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Paying tribute to Ramakrishna Mission President Shrimat Swami Smarananand on his demise on the social media platform ‘X’, he shared a photo related to old memories with him.

PM Modi wrote that Shrimat Swami Smaranand Ji Maharaj, the revered president of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, dedicated his life to spirituality and service. He has left an indelible mark on countless hearts and minds. His compassion and wisdom will continue to inspire generations.

PM Modi went to the hospital and asked about his well-being

Prime Minister Modi further said that I have had a very close relationship with him for years. I remember my visit to Belur Math in 2020 when I interacted with him. A few weeks ago, I also went to the hospital in Kolkata to inquire about his health. My condolences are with the countless devotees of Belur Math. om Shanti.

Became the 16th president of Ramakrishna Mission in 2017

On the other hand, a statement was also issued by RK Mission after the death of Swami Smaranand Ji Maharaj in which it was said that he had become the 16th President of Ramakrishna Mission in 2017. Swami ji was suffering from urine related problem for several days and was undergoing treatment in the hospital. The statement said that Shrimat Swami Smaranandji Maharaj took Mahasamadhi at 8.14 pm today. Swami ji was admitted to Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan on January 29 due to urine infection, but later due to breathing problem, he was put on ventilator on March 3.
