Actually, shooting of films and TV shows takes place in Mumbai. But Ramayana was shot in Umargam, Gujarat. This was revealed by Arvind Trivedi, who played the role of Ravana, in a BBC interview. The cast used to go to Gujarat from Mumbai by train for the shooting of the film.
