Bilaspur Police has arrested the accused of kidnapping a class three student after three weeks. The accused turned out to be Amit Singh, resident of village Narharpur Gorikheda of Hafizganj police station of Bareilly district. Police had recovered the student from the highway side five days ago.

Police in-charge Balwan Singh said that a farmer resident of a village adjacent to the Uttarakhand border had lodged a report in the police station on April 7 that his seven-year-old daughter is a class three student in the council school of the same village. On April 6, his daughter had gone to the village school to study in the morning, but did not return.

His allegation was that people had seen his minor daughter going with a young man named Amit. On the basis of suspicion, the police had filed a report against Amit under section 363. After this, the police continued intensive checking with the help of CCTV cameras and drone cameras etc.

The police had recovered the kidnapped student from the highway side five days ago. The accused kidnapper had fled in the dark of night after seeing the police. Based on the statement of the student, the police also invoked POCSO Act in the report.

On Thursday morning, the accused was arrested from near the tomb located near the bus stand. On interrogation, the accused identified himself as Amit, son of Nirwan Singh, resident of village Narharpur Gori Kheda of Hafizganj police station of Bareilly district. The police arrested the accused and sent him to the concerned court.
