Tanda, which is infamous for gold smuggling, has been linked to the gold robbery incident in Bareilly. Police raided several places and took eight people into custody. However, the local police is denying having any kind of information.
Last week, gold smugglers from Tanda allegedly looted one kilo and 300 grams of gold in Mirganj police station area of Bareilly. However, no complaint was made regarding this matter. After the matter came into discussion, the police definitely came into action.
According to the information, last week some gold smugglers had landed at Delhi International Airport and reached Lucknow by flight. Tanda was returning from there. Some people stopped his car in Mirganj, Bareilly, beat him up and snatched one kilo three hundred grams of gold from him.
Due to gold worth crores of rupees being involved, the matter was a constant topic of discussion in the city. Disputes among gold smugglers were also increasing. Meanwhile, when SOG Rampur got information about the matter, SOG team with the help of local police arrested eight gold smugglers of the city and took them with them.
However, Kotwali in-charge Prince Sharma told that when the SOG team had asked for policemen from them, the force was provided to them. It is not known why anyone else was caught. ASP Atul Srivastava also denied knowledge of the case and said an investigation would be carried out.
Tanda is infamous because of gold smugglers
Tanda town has become quite infamous for gold smuggling. Be it the case of gold worth lakhs of crores being seized at various airports or the case of three dozen smugglers being caught with cigarettes worth crores of rupees in Lucknow and escaping from there after colluding with the customs officials, the town has also come into limelight. People of Tanda are always in the news for gold and drug smuggling.
