A report has been filed against both the policemen and the outpost in-charge and both the policemen have been suspended. The victim Rishipal says that on July 20, he had an argument with his wife at home. His wife had reached Dhakiya outpost to complain about it.

Around 5 pm, constables Jaidev Singh and Amit Kumar posted at Dhakiya Police Station reached the victim’s house and brought the victim to the police station. The accused constables asked the victim’s caste at around 1 am. It is alleged that after asking the caste, the accused constables, under the influence of alcohol, beat the victim badly with kicks, punches and sticks while using casteist slurs.

During the beating, the victim suffered injuries on his private parts, after which he fell unconscious in the police station. When the victim regained consciousness, the policemen took him to their room at night and made him massage his hands and legs the whole night. On Sunday morning, the policemen released the victim Rishipal.

After reaching home, he showed the injuries on his body to his wife, then the matter spread like wildfire. Meanwhile, Rishipal, who was beaten by the soldiers, made a video of his injury marks and made it viral on social media. As soon as the video went viral, people of the Dalit community gathered after the incident.

In this case, the people of the Dalit community got angry and reached outside the CO office and protested against the police. Later, the people of the Dalit community talked to the CO. The CO, realizing the matter, directed to file a report against both the accused constables.

CO Sangam Kumar said that the victim has been medically examined, he is injured. The report has been sent to the SP for action against the constables. Late on Monday evening, Dhakiya Chowki Incharge Ashok Kumar, constables Jaidev and Amit have been suspended with immediate effect.

Investigation of this case has been started on the instructions of the SP. About twenty years ago, in a case, the then Dhakiya Chowki Incharge PD Ratnakar had detained a youth named Pappu. After detaining him, he was hung upside down in the lockup and beaten.

Pappu died due to the beating. During that time PD Ratnakar was suspended and action was initiated by registering an FIR. Later on, PD Ratnakar was jailed on the orders of the court. It was told that the then police inspector also came under the scanner of investigation.

Now once again questions have been raised on the Dhakia police in the case of Rishipal’s beating. This week, Dhakia police post in-charge Ashok Kumar had taken charge, when he too was suspended in this case.

Bhim Army’s district president Sunil Sagar along with his workers reached the CO’s office with the victim and condemned the incident. They demanded strict action against the police personnel. Apart from this, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuva Morcha’s president Rajat Kumar, former minister Surendra Singh Sagar, Rajkumar Sagar have demanded action. On this occasion, Usman Ali, Tej Singh, Amrit Singh Sagar, Priya Gautam, Bharat Singh Sagar and other workers were present.

In Dhakia, the husband was picked up for questioning in a dispute between husband and wife. Investigation revealed that the constables had beaten him. A report has been filed against the constables in this case. The sub-inspector and the two constables have been suspended and an investigation has been started. – Vidya Sagar Mishra, SP Rampur
