Let us tell you, on December 14, the body of the 17-year-old daughter of a farmer resident of Shivrajpur was found lying in the room in a semi-nude condition. During that time all the family members had gone to attend a wedding ceremony organized at a relative’s house. On the information of the deceased’s sister-in-law, the police reached the spot along with the forensic team, investigated and collected evidence. During investigation, the elder brother’s daughter, who slept with the deceased at night, had mentioned about the arrival of a young man.

Based on his appearance, the police started searching for Kuldeep Kumar alias Shobhit, a resident of Nevada village, 20 km away from the girl’s village. Kuldeep, who was caught, told during interrogation that due to the absence of the girl’s family members, he reached her house at around 8.30 pm and ran away after seeing her health deteriorating in the morning.

Since the girl is a minor, her consent does not matter. For this reason, an FIR has been registered against the accused under sections of rape and POCSO Act and he has been sent to jail. – Rajesh Singh, DCP West
