Rekha told in her book ‘Rekha The Untold Story’ – When she was 15 years old, she had worked in a Bengali film. Rekha had to face a lot during this film. The name of this film of Rekha was Anjaana. In this film released in 1969, actor Biswajit Chatterjee, who was 25 years older than Rekha, was placed opposite Rekha. There was a lot of uproar regarding a scene in this film.
Romantic scene shot without telling
Describing about the scene of the film in her book, Rekha said – A romantic scene was to be shot in the film. In this scene Biswajit Chatterjee had to kiss Rekha. This is from the time when kissing scenes were not considered good in Bollywood films. The actresses were not willing to shoot such scenes on their own. Rekha said- ‘She was not given a briefing before shooting the romantic scene in this Bengali film’. The actress said – ‘Biswajit Chatterjee started kissing her forcibly. Due to which the actress first got shocked and then started crying.
The actress further said in the book – During this scene, no one stopped the actor, rather the people present at the unit were standing there clapping and whistling. There was a demand from the Censor Board to remove this scene. After which this matter reached the court. The court dismissed this matter by saying that kissing is a personal matter between two people. If both agree to this then no third party should face any problem.
