Republic Day 2024 Flag Disposal Rules how to dispose Indian flag after rejection know rules before 26 January

Whenever occasions like 26 January or 15 August come, Indian flags are seen on every vehicle, house, shop, building and there is an atmosphere of patriotism everywhere. But, the next day you see flags on the road. Actually, once people hoist the flag, they throw it away or do not take care of it. Apart from this, they throw damaged flags anywhere, which is wrong. According to the Flag Code of India, there is a procedure for disposing of the National Flag of India and it is the duty of every person to follow it.

The first thing is that no torn or stained flag should be hoisted. Apart from this, let us know what is the right way to dispose of a damaged or old flag.

How to dispose?

According to the Flag Code of India 2002, there are two ways to dispose of the national flag after it gets damaged, which include burial or burning. There are some rules for flag disposal in both these ways. To bury the flags, first of all all the damaged flags should be collected in a wooden box and then fold them properly and keep them in the box and then bury the box in the ground. After planting the flag, keep silence for some time and do all this in a peaceful environment. Don’t make fun of this process.

Apart from this, if you want to dispose of the old flag by burning it, then choose a clean and safe place for burning. Then light a fire and burn the flag in it. It is not that if garbage is being burnt somewhere then you can throw the flag in it. Let us tell you that the flag should be burnt with respect and if you burn the flag without folding it then it is a legal offence. It is necessary to maintain dignity while burning and burying the flag.

There was a change in the rules

Let us tell you that the rules for hoisting the flag were changed two years ago. During this time, polyester flag was also accepted, earlier only cotton, woven flags and Khadi flags were allowed to be hoisted. Apart from this, in the new rules, the flag was allowed to remain flying even after sunset. Earlier the flag could not be hoisted at night, but now this has been changed.
