RG kar Rape Case: Hairstyle, photos and name are everywhere… When SG Mehta told this, CJI Chandrachud lashed out at Wikipedia, know what he said

The Supreme Court has directed Wikipedia to remove the photos and name of the victim of the Kolkata RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case. The court has expressed displeasure that Wikipedia did not follow the previous order and the photos revealing the identity of the victim are still there. The Supreme Court is hearing the Kolkata rape-murder case on Tuesday (September 17, 2024).

Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud reprimanded Wikipedia and said that it is a principle that the picture or identity of the victim of rape and murder should not be revealed, so Wikipedia should follow the previous order passed.

Justice Chandrachud said during the hearing that the court has been told that Wikipedia has still not removed the name and photos of the victim. Although these photos are artistic graphics, it is a rule that the identity of the victim will never be revealed. During this, the Solicitor General appearing in the court on behalf of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also told the court that the victim had a specific hairstyle, which is being portrayed everywhere."text-align: justify;">Read this also:-
