By lunch time on the third day, India had scored 205 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 51 overs. Rishabh Pant had scored 82 runs and Shubman Gill had scored 86 runs till lunch. Pant said that he was given a clear message from the dressing room that he had only one hour to score as many runs as possible. Only after that Pant and Gill started batting in a fast manner.

Rishabh Pant revealed the conversation in the dressing room and said, “When we went for lunch, there was a discussion about declaring the innings. Rohit bhai had clearly said that we will be given one hour to score as many runs as possible. After that, the thought came to my mind that I will score runs quickly, who knows I may cross 150.” Due to this mindset, Pant started playing odd shots. He scored 109 runs in 128 balls.
