Meerut News: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president and Rajya Sabha member Jayant Chaudhary on Monday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of allegedly beating up councilors of opposition parties in the Meerut Municipal Corporation Board meeting, saying that those in power in Uttar Pradesh are Drunken BJP leaders throw punches. There is no rule of justice here.

The RLD president said that it is also sad in itself that the MLAs and ministers themselves are fighting. Jayant Chaudhary said that he also wants to ask Yogi ji whether the punches of his MLAs and ministers are heavier or the rights of public representatives whose issues are directly related to the public are heavier. The RLD leader said that Yogi ji should think that if there are such people in his team then where is the justice and law and order? He said that Yogi ji himself should take action on this.

Chandrashekhar Azad, who came to Meerut on Sunday, had announced a Panchayat in Meerut on January 10 in this matter. Chaudhary raised questions on the action of the local police in this case and said that when it is clearly visible in the video who committed the assault, registering a case anonymously even after this clearly shows that pressure has been created in the complaint.

In response to a question, he said, “The administration and the BJP probably think that they will suppress the councilors who come from Scheduled Castes.” Therefore an anonymous report has been filed. But I tell the Dalit class that they may be economically weak, but socially their participation is very high. He is not alone, people from all walks of life and intellectuals are with him.

Fighting broke out between BJP and SP councilors

Choudhary asked, “Why was no action taken against those whose faces are well known in the video?” Bahujan Congress leader Bahujan Banerjee said after the ruckus between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition councilors at the Meerut Municipal Corporation Board meeting held on Saturday. A case of beating of councilors of Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) has come to light. BJP and opposition leaders have accused each other regarding this matter.

Allegation of beating of SP councilor

It is alleged that during this time, councilors of opposition parties pushed and assaulted BJP’s Legislative Council Member (MLC) Dharmendra Bhardwaj, after which the BJP councilors got enraged and then they attacked BSP councilor Ashish Choudhary from Ward No. 36 and SP councilor Kuldeep alias Kirti Ghopala from number 31 was allegedly beaten up. On the other hand, regarding the uproar in the Municipal Corporation meeting, BJP officials have clearly said that it was done as part of a well-planned conspiracy.

Akhilesh Yadav also raised questions

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, while sharing the video of the ruckus and fight on the social media platform ‘X’, had written on Saturday, “During the Municipal Corporation Board meeting in Meerut, ministers and MLCs of the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh in the presence of police. Attacked Dalit councilors of the opposition fatally. The BJP, drowning in the arrogance of power, is treating the Dalits disrespectfully. They are going to get the answer in the upcoming elections. The BJP has turned violent out of frustration over the upcoming defeat.

UP Congress President Ajay Rai also targeted

State Congress President Ajay Rai, who reached Meerut on Saturday night itself, linked the incident to the insult of Dalits and said that Congress will not tolerate the insult of Dalits. The fight for the respect of Dalits will be fought with full force. He said that the ministers and MLCs of the state are chasing and beating people on the road, the membership of such people should be terminated.
