According to the report released by the Government of India, there were 461312 road accidents in the year 2022. In which 168491 people lost their lives. More than 50% of deaths are of pedestrians
The report released by the Delhi government states that more than 50 percent of the total road accident deaths in the year 2022 were of pedestrians. According to the report, a total of 1571 people died in 1517 road accidents in the year 2022, of which 97 percent were pedestrians, motorcyclists, cyclists and auto rickshaw drivers. The report stated that 89% of the people who died in these accidents were men and 11% were women. Of these, the highest number of deaths were of people aged between 30 to 39 years.
Most deaths occurred between 9 pm and 2 am
The report also mentions the timing of road accidents. The report states that the maximum number of people have lost their lives in road accidents between 9 pm and 2 am. This is the time when people drive fast. And the maximum number of hit and run cases are also registered during this time. Let us tell you that 59% of the road accidents that happened in the year 2022 are of hit and run.
In hit and run cases, 57% of the affected are pedestrians, while 33% are bike riders. Apart from this, information about the day of the road accident is also given. The report states that the highest number of deaths in road accidents were recorded on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
