Now the pace of development in authorities and local bodies will increase. The 2% development fee collected by the stamp department will be sent directly to the concerned authorities and bodies. With the quick receipt of funds, works like road-sewer-water and street lighting will gain pace. The stamp department receives more than Rs 1,000 crore as development fee every year. The cabinet approved this proposal on Tuesday.

Stamp and Registration Minister Ravindra Jaiswal said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this proposal was presented in the cabinet giving top priority to development. In the state, the stamp duty for women is 4% and for men it is 5%. If the property is in urban area or municipal area, then an additional 2% development fee is charged. Facilities like road, sewer, water etc. are provided in the related area.

He told that earlier the registry department used to collect development fee and release this money directly to the authorities and bodies. In the year 2013, this was changed by passing a resolution in the SP government. Under this, the right to release money directly from the stamp department was taken away and given to the finance department. According to the stamp minister, the intention behind this was that the money released under the head of development fee should be used in other schemes. Due to this, the vehicle of development in the areas coming under the authorities and local bodies used to move forward by putting a brake.

On Tuesday, the cabinet again gave the stamp department the authority to issue money directly. This decision will provide great relief to the authorities and bodies which used to get money late. This will lead to rapid improvement in basic infrastructure. People’s complaints will reduce and local bodies will be strengthened.
