Prime Minister Narendra Modi Recently, this scheme was announced, which has been named Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana. A provision of Rs 10 thousand crore has been made for this scheme in the budget.
People can save so much
While presenting the interim budget on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a provision of Rs 10,000 crore for the rooftop solar scheme. He also said that by taking advantage of this scheme, people can generate electricity on their rooftops. By installing solar panels on rooftops, people can get up to 300 units of free electricity every month, which can save them Rs 15,000 to 18,000 annually.
Facility to sell excess electricity will be available
Under the Rooftop Solar Scheme, people can not only use the electricity generated on their rooftops, but can also sell the excess electricity above the requirement. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana, people are going to get the facility to sell access electricity. This electricity can also be used to charge electric vehicles. In this way, people can earn extra income along with saving on electricity bills.
Production from solar energy is increasing rapidly
The central government is laying great emphasis on sources of renewable energy. Under this, the government has set a target of producing 100 gigawatt electricity from solar energy. In the past years, there has been a continuous increase in the production of electricity from solar energy. In the financial year 2019-20, where about 35 gigawatts of electricity was being produced from solar energy, in the current financial year this production is expected to cross 73 gigawatts.

Installing rooftop solar panels on the roofs of 1 crore houses under PM Suryodaya Yojana can also help the government achieve the target of 100 GW. In an ET report quoting experts, it has been said that by installing solar panels on 1 crore roofs, about 20-25 gigawatts of electricity can be produced. The government has set a target of 40 gigawatt rooftop solar capacity by 2025-26.
