RuPay card will now work in Muslim country Maldives After Mauritius and UAE


India Maldives Relations: India’s Rupay card will be launched in Maldives soon. This is expected to boost the currency of Maldives. This step is being taken at a time when bilateral relations between Maldives and India are a bit uneasy. Actually, Rupay of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) is the first card included in the global card payment network in India. It has received wide acceptance in India for payment in ATMs, purchase and sale of goods and on e-commerce websites.

Economic Development and Trade Minister Mohammed Saeed has announced the launch of India’s Rupee service. He said that India and China have agreed to use the local currency in bilateral trade. Saeed told the state news channel PSM News, “The launch of India’s Rupee service is expected to further boost the Maldives Rufiyaa (MVR).” He also said that settling the dollar issue and strengthening the local currency is the top priority for the current government.

Now Rupay service will start in Maldives

However, he did not announce any date for the launch of RuPay service. News portal CorporateMaldives.com last week quoted Saeed as saying that the card will be used for transactions in rupees in the Maldives. The minister said that we are currently in discussions with India to find ways to facilitate payments in rupees.

Let us tell you that the Indian government has taken strict steps to strengthen UPI. Rupay card service has been started in many countries of the world. So far, 7 countries are included in this, which include France, Singapore, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and UAE.
