Cancer Vaccine In a world that is searching for a cure for deadly cancer, Russia has claimed that it has created a cancer vaccine. The Russian Health Ministry gave this information on Tuesday. Russian news agency TASS says that this vaccine will be administered free of cost to Russian citizens from next year. Andrei Kaprin, director of the Radiology Medical Research Center of the Health Ministry of Russia, said that his mRNA vaccine has been made, which is the biggest discovery of this century.
Clinical trials of the vaccine showed that it helps in preventing tumor growth. Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin had also said that his country would soon make a cancer vaccine. In such a situation, the question arises that how does this cancer vaccine work and how many times will it need to be administered?
How does mRNA vaccine work?
mRNA is also called messenger-RNA, which is a small part of the genetic code of humans. These reduce protein production in our cells. Meaning, when a virus or bacteria attacks our body, mRNA technology sends a message to the cells to make proteins to fight that virus or bacteria.
With this, the body’s immune system gets the essential protein it needs. Due to this antibodies are formed in the body. With this, the vaccine can be made more quickly than the conventional vaccine. Along with this, the immunity of the body also gets strengthened. This is the first cancer vaccine based on mRNA technology.
How can cancer mRNA vaccine be beneficial?
Work on making this vaccine has been going on in the world for a long time. Till now, not much information has come from Russia about this vaccine, but experts say that this vaccine can destroy cancer cells. The vaccine helps in activating the immune system, which helps in destroying cancer cells. This vaccine may be safer and more effective than other types of vaccines.
How many times will the cancer vaccine need to be administered?
Not much information has been revealed regarding how many times this vaccine has to be administered to completely eliminate cancer, but health experts say that different types of mRNA vaccines may be required for different types of cancer. Depending on the stage of the cancer, mRNA vaccine may need to be administered multiple times.
To strengthen the immune system, this vaccine may need to be administered several times. Some other studies suggest that cancer mRNA vaccine may need to be administered 2-3 times in the early stage, 3-4 times in the medium stage and 4-6 times in the final stage. However, it is important to keep in mind that the opinion of Russian experts has not yet come on this.
