Ruturaj Gaikwad Century Ranji Trophy Mumbai vs Maharashtra: The clash between Mumbai and Maharashtra in the first round match of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 has become exciting. Rituraj Gaikwad, who was out on the score of zero in the first innings, has scored a century in the second innings for Maharashtra. He has completed his century in just 87 balls. Gaikwad is captaining Maharashtra and with his century the team has come in a strong position.
In this clash, Maharashtra’s first innings was reduced to only 126 runs, in response to which Mumbai scored a huge score of 441 runs on the basis of century innings of Shreyas Iyer and Ayush Mhatre. Mumbai had got a lead of 315 runs in the first innings. Gaikwad’s century has come at a time when speculations are at its peak about him being made the captain of the India A team to be sent on Australia tour. Gaikwad has completed his century playing at a strike rate of 114.9.
Gaikwad also shone in Duleep Trophy
Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad was seen captaining India C in Duleep Trophy 2024. He was the highest run scorer for his team in the tournament. He had scored 232 runs including two half-centuries in 6 innings of 3 matches. But he was able to score only 9 runs while captaining Rest of India in the Irani Cup, but now he has shown signs of being back in good form by scoring a century in the opening match of Ranji Trophy.
India-Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy is to start from 22nd November, but before that India A team will play a practice match with Australia A. There are speculations that Rituraj Gaikwad may get a place as a back-up opening batsman in India’s 15-member squad.
