The audit investigation has revealed the scam of about 1100 quintals of sugar worth lakhs of rupees in the Satha Sugar Mill of Aligarh. However, the officials associated with the sugar mill management have claimed that the sugar worth about 35 lakhs kept in the mill’s stock was eaten up by monkeys and was spoiled by rain.

The audit has been done by Assistant Audit Officer Vinod Kumar Singh. In which it has come to light that sugar worth Rs. 35.24 lakhs has been stolen and loss has been caused to the organization. For this, the mill manager, accounting officer and six other officers and employees have been held guilty and a recommendation has been made to the Sugar Commissioner to take action. However, the store keeper and other employees of the mill are calling this audit report baseless.

In this entire matter, on the instructions of the MD, an administrative committee is being formed at the mill management and DM level, which will find out the truth. The District Audit Officer, Cooperative Societies and Panchayat Auditor of the sugar mill recently conducted an audit investigation till 31 March 2024. In which physical verification of the final stock of sugar was done.

The sugar stock was found to be matching from April 1 to October 2023. After this, the sugar stock in February 2024 was 1538.37 quintals, which reduced to only 401.37 quintals in March. According to the officers and employees of the sugar mill, about 1137 quintals of white sugar kept in stock was eaten by monkeys and some sugar got spoiled in the rain due to the dilapidated stock room of the mill. Not only this, the remaining stock shown in March was also not found for physical verification.
