The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has also intensified the investigation into the incident of derailment of Sabarmati Express at Panki on Kanpur-Jhansi route. To get to the bottom of the accident, it is engaged in examining the mobile dump data and CCTV camera footage of a radius of five kilometers from the accident spot.

ATS wants to clarify whether the accident was due to the railway’s negligence or a conspiracy. It will also be seen whether the same pattern was used in the incidents that happened across the country. After taking stock of the accident, ATS examined the tracks and other evidence found at the spot.

The team went around the villages near the accident site and talked to people to find out if anyone saw anything suspicious during the train accident. The team also talked to some people from the local police and railways. According to sources, examining the dump data and CCTV footage will help the investigating agency understand the incident.

Also, it will be easy to identify any suspicious activity. An ATS officer said that the investigation is being taken forward on the instructions of senior officers. Railway officials, the driver, conductor and guard of the accident-hit train will also be talked to. The reason behind such train accidents in the country and the state is also being looked into.

SAG team started investigation on many aspects

Along with the local railway officials, a five-member committee of Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) officers has also started investigating the derailment of Sabarmati Express. The officers included in the team can inspect the spot on Tuesday.

In the initial investigation, the focus is on the rail pieces and the contact of the track. An attempt will be made to understand how the track was laid, which broke up to the train’s cattle guard. The Chairman of SAG is the Principal Chief Safety Officer.
