The five-day pulse polio campaign in Saharsa district was jointly launched by DM Vaibhav Choudhary, Civil Surgeon Dr Katyani Mishra and other senior officials on Sunday. After cutting the ribbon in the inaugural ceremony, the children were given two drops of life against polio. This campaign will run from 17 November to 21 November 2024.
DM said that there has not been a single case of polio in India for the last 13 years. But cases are still being reported in the neighboring country, due to which there remains a danger. A campaign is being run to prevent this. He appealed to everyone to administer polio drops to children.
According to the information, the Pulse Polio campaign was launched in November 2022 last. After that, the way polio virus is thriving in our neighboring country. This campaign is being run to prevent its infection. During this campaign, 809 door-to-door teams will visit a total of 3,61,255 houses in 10 blocks and urban bodies under Saharsa district. During this period, a target has been set to administer two drops of life to four lakh 28 thousand 26 children. During this campaign, 96 transit teams will be deployed at the railway station, bus stand, Mukh Chowk intersections within the district, who will give two drops of life to all the children from birth to five years coming from outside. 274 observers have been appointed during this campaign. A total of 694 ICDS workers, 837 Asha workers and 627 volunteers have been deputed as vaccine workers yesterday.
To make the campaign successful, the Civil Surgeon and District Immunization Officer have requested the general public to administer two drops of polio vaccine to all their children aged between birth and five years. To make the campaign successful, polio awareness Prabhat Pheri was also taken out.
