Sahitya Akademi organized All India Divyang Writers’ Conference for the first time. Union Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal inaugurated it. He said that the present government is working with the aim of development of all. Proper respect and participation of disabled people is also being ensured in the building of the nation. Such conferences would prove to be the best way to provide a platform to all of them.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, while mentioning many Divyang litterateurs, said that without worrying about the lack of some colors in their lives, they create another rainbow of colors, which fills a new light in the lives of all of us.

Sharing the difficulties faced by the disabled people, English writer K Srilatha said that we have to change our attitude towards the disabled. Academy President Madhav Kaushik said that instead of such special conference in the coming time, everyone will be brought on a single platform.

During this, poems and stories were recited. Vinod Asudani, Surbhi Chatterjee (Bengali), Sahisuli Brahm (Bodo), Kusumlata Malik (Hindi), Nitin V Mehta (Gujarati), S Raghunath (Kannada), Rilin Gemma Lyngdoh (Khasi), Sukhbir Mohbat (Punjabi), Mohd Aslam Dozens of writers including Badr (Urdu) presented their works.
