A girl standing with her mother on the roadside was crushed by a police vehicle on Tuesday night near Chandchaur village on NH-28 of Ujiarpur police station in Samastipur district of Bihar. In this accident the girl died on the spot. After committing the incident, the police vehicle fled towards Dalsinghsarai. On the other hand, on receiving information about the incident, Ujiarpur police seized the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem late in the night. The deceased girl has been identified as Sonakshi Kumari (4), daughter of Rakesh Kumar Singh, resident of a locality, Chandchaur New Toll Ward of the police station area.

Rakesh Singh, father of the deceased, told that his daughter Sonakshi was standing on the roadside along with his wife Rani Kumari. Meanwhile, a police registered vehicle driven by Musrigharari, while trying to overtake the Scorpio, hit his daughter standing on the roadside, crushing her to death. However, his mother narrowly escaped this incident.

In protest against this incident, people blocked NH-28 for some time, due to which people had to face problems at night. Later, Ujiarpur police reached the spot and pacified the people. When the police officer checked the CCTV camera installed at Chandchaur Chowk, he saw that the accident had taken place in a police registered vehicle. However, the whereabouts of the police vehicle could not be ascertained. Since the vehicle number was not clearly visible in the camera.

Ujiarpur police station incharge Mukesh Kumar said that an FIR is being registered regarding the incident. The body has been seized and sent for post-mortem.
