The work of removing soil from the corridors of the first floor of the stepwell is going on for the seventh day in the stepwell found in Laxmanganj, a Muslim dominated locality in Chandausi, Sambhal. ASI team has also reached the stepwell site and is busy in investigation. Earlier, on Thursday also the work of removing soil from the corridors of the first floor was carried out. 40 to 45 laborers were busy taking out soil from the corridors and filling it in tractor-trolley. After a day’s hard work, the entire floor of one side corridor of the first floor has been cleaned. The stepwell is said to be in front of the stairs descending into the stepwell. After collecting soil there, digging there has been banned for the time being.
Municipality officials say that the soil on the side of the well will be removed only after the first floor is completely cleaned. On Thursday also, around 10.30 am, Municipal Council’s Sanitary Inspector Priyanka Singh reached the spot with the team. 40-45 laborers are being put on duty in two shifts.
One team is working till lunch time and after lunch the other team is working. After the survey by the ASI team at 10 am, the workers reached the first floor of the stepwell with shovels and utensils at around 11 am. Where the work of removing soil from the corridors started. Workers were standing in line till the stairs, taking pots full of soil from each other and carrying them to the tractor-trolley.
Work was stopped by five in the evening. By then, after descending the stairs in the stepwell, the floor of the corridor on the right side was completely cleaned. Whereas the work was stopped after the soil from the corridor on the other side was brought to the gate on that side. Not only this, there is said to be a well on the side opposite to the steps of the stepwell. Due to which the gate there has been filled with soil and closed. It will be excavated only after cleaning the upper floor.

They entered and searched the corridors of the first floor of the stepwell and also took photographs and videography. Apart from this, the stepwell was measured. Municipality’s Sanitary Inspector Priyanka Singh said that ASI is conducting the survey. The members took photos and videography in the stepwell. Measurements have also been done on the first floor.
