Sandeshkhali News Calcutta High Court granted unconditional bail to former CPM MLA Nirapada Sardar on tuesday

Sandeshkhali Ex MLA Bail from Calcutta High Court: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday (27 February) granted unconditional bail to former CPM MLA Nirapad Sardar. During this, the court said that the state should be ashamed of the indecency and torture done to the leader for 17 days. Apart from this comment, the court suggested that the policemen involved should be immediately arrested.

The court said that the complaint on the basis of which Sardar was arrested was lodged on February 10. The police had prepared the FIR a day before. Sardar, a former MLA from Sandeshkhali, was arrested on February 11 on charges of creating unrest in the Sundarban Islands on the basis of a complaint by Bhanu Mandal, an aide of Trinamool leader Shib Prasad Hazra. Shib Prasad Hazra is in police custody in the Sandeshkhali case.

Said to arrest policemen

Justice Debangsu Basak, leading the bench, expressed displeasure over the development. “The police officers concerned should be arrested immediately,” the judge said during the hearing on Sardar’s bail plea. It is unfortunate that a decent person was unnecessarily harassed for 17 days. The state should be ashamed of this act. The policemen involved in this case should be arrested and prosecuted properly.”

The innocent Sardar was released late in the evening.

Justice Basak said, “The police will have to give a proper explanation before the court. In any free country the police cannot torture any citizen in this manner.” Justice Basak warned that if the petitioner was not released on Tuesday, the police would have to face contempt action. After this Sardar was released from Basirhat jail.

Next hearing in the case will be on March 1

The court has fixed March 1 for the next hearing of the case. Meanwhile, the police chief of Basirhat district has been asked to file a report explaining the reason behind taking such action.

Sardar raised questions on TMC after coming out of jail

Coming out of Basirhat jail on Tuesday (February 27) evening, 54-year-old Sardar said that the people of Sandeshkhali have given an answer to TMC. They should know that a very strong reaction awaits them from the people. I had raised these main issues on the floor of the Assembly in 2013. Even after this I raised it several times, but no attention was paid to it.

TMC leader gave this clarification in the whole matter

Trinamool state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said in this matter that there might have been some reasons for the arrest. According to the court, there must have been reasons for his bail also. Bail is a part of legal procedures. We have nothing to say on that.
