The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Abhesingh registered a big victory

Abhesingh Motibhai Tadvi of BJP defeated Dhirubhai Bhil of INC by 30,674 votes in Sankheda assembly seat of Chhota Udepur district. BJP candidate got 99,387 votes while Congress got 68,713 votes here. You stood at number three. Its candidate Ranjanbhai Kanchanbhai Tadvi got 18,344 votes, which was only 9.42 percent of the total votes. The deposits of four including the AAP candidate were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 4,143 votes.

BJP got victory in 2017

The BJP had won the Sankheda seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP had made Abhesingh its candidate. Abhesingh defeated Dhirubhai Bhil of Congress by 13,000 votes. A total of nine candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining seven candidates were forfeited. In the 2017 elections, the BJP had won Sankheda and the Congress had won Chhota Udaipur and Jetpur.

How has been the electoral history of Sankheda seat?

Talking about the electoral history of this seat, before 2017, Congress won from here in 2012. BJP had won here in 2007 and 2002. Whereas, Congress was successful in winning in 1995 and 1998. In 1990, Babarbhai Tadvi of Janata Dal had won. Bhaijibhai Tadvi won in 1975, 1980 and 1985. Bhaijibhai won in 1975 on the ticket of Kisan Mazdoor Lokpaksha. Whereas, in 1980 and 1985, he won on a Congress ticket. Congress was successful in winning here in 1962, 1967 and 1972.

Out of the total 14 assembly elections held so far in Sankheda seat, the Congress has won eight assembly elections. Whereas, BJP got victory four times. Once each the candidates of Janata Dal and Kisan Mazdoor Lokpaksha have been successful in winning.
