The protest that started regarding digital attendance in council schools does not seem to end yet. Even after the government postponed the decision of digital attendance till further orders, the anger of the teachers did not subside. In the meeting of the Teachers, Shiksha Mitra, Instructor, Employees United Front held on Saturday, it was decided that they will neither update any register of the school online nor send selfies of prayer meetings. The department should withdraw the order of digitalization.
In the meeting, teacher leaders said that digital attendance has been suspended, but Director General of School Education Kanchan Verma has ordered that teachers should send their selfies with children in the prayer meeting. This is a violation of privacy. Digital attendance has been suspended till further orders, so asking for selfies from teachers is not justified.
State convenor of the United Front and state president of the Primary Teachers’ Union Sushil Pandey, state president of the Junior High School Teachers’ Union Yogesh Tyagi, state president of the Vishisht BTC Teachers’ Welfare Association Santosh Tiwari said that in protest against this arbitrary decree, teachers of the state will teach wearing black bands as before. They will not update any register online. They will not even send selfies of prayer meetings.
The state secretary of the Morcha, Dilip Chauhan, said that the teachers are angry with this double order. If the written minutes of the meeting with the Director General are not issued soon, then the United Front will be forced to stage a dharna-demonstration at the Director General’s office on July 29 as per the pre-announced program. State president of ATETVA Vijay Bandhu, Vivekanand, state general secretary of Shikshamitra Sangh Sushil Yadav, Vikram Singh, Tejaswi Shukla etc. attended the meeting.
