Saregama India is reportedly in talks to acquire a majority stake in Dharma Productions.

Business Today, quoting Livemint’s report, has written that, reportedly, this deal is still in the initial stage and it is also possible that this series of talks may not reach any result. This has not been confirmed yet.

Production houses are facing problems
This conversation is taking place at a time when production companies are facing challenges. These challenges include things like fluctuation of box office figures and increasing demands of actors. Like other companies, Dharma Productions is also under pressure regarding this. Reportedly the production house has been looking for external investment for some time.

Talking about the recent releases of Dharma Productions, these include Kill, Bad News and Yodha along with Mr. There are films like And Mrs. Mahi. At the same time, Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Jigra’ is going to hit the cinema halls this week on 11th October. Karan Johar had recently revealed that for his much appreciated film ‘Kill’, some stars had asked for as much money as the total budget of the film.

Not being able to earn profit is a major problem
Karan Johar had told that the total budget of the film was 40 crores and these stars had demanded the same amount of money. According to Business Today news, Dharma Productions had earned a total revenue of Rs 1044.16 crore in the financial year 2022-23, of which the profit share was Rs 10.69 crore.

Saregama is expanding its
During this period, Saregama has earned a net profit of Rs 185.1 crore with a revenue of Rs 790.4 crore. In September 2023, RP Sanjiv Goenka’s company has also expanded, under which the company has acquired 51.8 percent stake in Pocket Aces Pictures for Rs 174 crore.

With this acquisition, the company has increased its presence in the digital space, as Pocket Access has access to more than 95 million users across social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram.
