Sarcasm, sarcasm or taunt is an important emotion which is often reflected on a person’s face. Till now there has been a lot of discussion about facial recognition techniques or tools of AI technology. But there was no mention of the technology to identify facial expressions. In recent new research, scientists have taken a step forward in this direction. Now scientists have created a sarcasm detector, a device that actually works. This means that now AI can even understand jokes!
It is not easy to explain such sentiments. Even in literature it is described as quite complex. The famous writer Oscar Wilde himself described satire as “the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence”.
Experts say the subtle changes in human voice tone that convey sarcasm can confuse even computers, virtual assistants and content analysis tools. But now scientists have succeeded in finding the answer.

Their computer algorithm records the speaker’s pitch, talking rate and “energy.” It converts human speech into text and analyzes it. The meaning of each part of this text is determined and for this it is given an emoticon.
The detector has been invented in the Speech Technology Lab at the University of Groningen. The Dutch team is now looking for ways to make it even better. “People use a variety of expressions and gestures to highlight sarcastic elements in speech,” says PhD researcher Jiyuan Gao. “There is a need to integrate them better into our project.”

Guardian report According to , the research team used video clips and other text and audio material from American sitcoms like “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory” to train the neural network and achieved results that have scientists very excited.
