Scientists made a big revelation, leakage is happening on Venus, many secrets of the solar system can be revealed!

Scientists keep saying that Earth and Venus were once the same planet. Seeing the similarities between the two, they call them sister planets. But there are some differences between them. There is abundant liquid water on Earth’s surface, but not on Venus. Research is going on as to how such a big difference came about. But the new results of the 2021 BepiColombo mission have shown that gases are coming out from the upper atmosphere of Venus, that is, there is a leakage on the planet Venus. These results can have big implications.

New results from the 2021 BepiColombo mission, a joint mission between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to investigate the planet Mercury, have revealed that gases, including oxygen, are being released from the upper atmosphere of Venus. .

Published in the journal Nature Astronomy, the study highlights the importance of understanding the atmospheric evolution of Venus. Venus does not have a strong magnetic field like Earth. Its upper atmosphere is exposed to the solar wind and the flow of charged particles ejected from the Sun. This interaction can cause ions, particularly hydrogen and oxygen ions, to be carried into space between the solar wind and Venus’s upper atmosphere.

These ions are separated from the planet’s atmosphere due to the solar wind. This process, known as atmospheric escape, is contributing to the gradual loss of atmosphere from Venus over time. Understanding the mechanisms of atmospheric escape on Venus can help understand its evolution and the conditions that may have led to its current state.

BepiColombo’s data, collected over 90 minutes during its flyby of Venus, helped to understand the chemical and physical mechanisms at work in Venus’ magnetosheath. Venus lacks an internal magnetic field, but has an induced magnetosphere due to solar winds, which shape its magnetosheath. The study will be helpful in understanding Earth’s climate change and also in knowing its future possibilities.
