Sculpture Found In Syria: The civil war that has been going on in Syria for the last several years has now reached its peak. Rebels in Syria have ousted President Bashar al-Assad from power. Idol worship is prohibited in the religion of Islam. But there used to be idol worship in Syria at one time. Subsequent evidence has come to light. Statue of Roman Goddess was found
A 1600-year-old temple was found in an excavation conducted by the Archeology Department in Syria in the year 2022. Actually the researchers have found a very old mosaic. This provides evidence that a temple existed there. During the excavation, officials of the Archaeological Department said that the floor of the temple looked like a new floor. The idols found in this temple were of Roman gods and goddesses.

The Archeology Department inferred from this that before the arrival of Islam, Roman deities were worshiped in Syria. Apart from the sculptures recovered during excavations in Syria, figures of Roman gods and goddesses were also found on the mosaic. From this it became clear that earlier people following Roman religion used to live here.

Who were the Roman gods?
Roman religion was the largest religion in Italy long ago. There were many gods in this religion. People of Roman religion believed in idol worship. Like the Gods and Goddesses of Hindu religion, there used to be temples of Gods and Goddesses of Roman religion. Prasad and flowers were offered to his idols. If we talk about Roman religion, the biggest god in it was Jupiter. So some people also considered Janus as the greatest god. Both the gods have different places in history. During excavations in Syria, statues of gods and goddesses associated with Roman religion were found. That means, we can say that Jupiter and Janus must have been worshiped in Syria.
