Harikant Sharma/Agra: You must have heard many stories about friendship between humans. But we are going to tell you the story of friendship between two animals. This is the story of the elephant Lakshmi and the fairy. Who are now living together in Wildlife SOS, Agra. There was a time when these two elephants were tortured. When Wildlife SOS found two female elephants, Lakshmi and Pari, they were severely malnourished.
Lakshmi, who was once exploited for begging and commercial purposes, was emaciated. Even his spine was bulging and there was pain in his joints. Due to this she was called the thinnest elephant of India. Similarly, a heavy saddle was placed on Pari’s back and she was tied in chains. She had to work long hours and face abuse. Still these tortures could not break his courage. Today both of them are tied in an extraordinary bond.
Now both the elephants are close friends.
The relationship between Lakshmi, aged around 33, and Pari, aged around 23, blossomed during their daily walks in December 2023. Affectionately caressing each other with their trunks and their conversations soon blossomed into a deep friendship. As their bond grew stronger, they were kept in nearby enclosures. There, they celebrated Christmas together and now they often go on walks together. Pari played a major role in this friendship with her energetic nature and health. Being older, Lakshmi takes care and supports her new friend.
There is a special bond between the two elephants
Karthik Satyanarayana, co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS, said that caretakers and veterinarians regularly check on the health of the elephants. After seeing the unbreakable friendship between Lakshmi and Pari, he saw signs of bonding between the two elephants. Because, the elephants were smelling each other with their trunks. After this it was decided to keep them in the same enclosure. As soon as Lakshmi and Pari go out together on their walk in the hospital campus. We feel very relieved to see them together. Since the beginning of their friendship, a deep relationship has developed between Lakshmi and Pari. They go out on walks together, eat food together and have a lot of fun together.
