Misa Bharti On Sengol: On SP MP RK Chaudhary’s comment on Sengol, RJD MP Misa Bharti has said that it should be removed. Misa Bharti said that this is not a monarchy, it is a democratic country. It should be kept in a museum where people can come and see it. She said, whoever has made this demand, we will fully support him.
After the Speaker election today (27 June) the President Draupadi Murmu addressed the joint session of both the houses. Meanwhile, politics started on the Sengol installed in the Parliament. Many MPs of opposition parties demanded to remove the Sengol kept near the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chair in the House. Samajwadi Party called the Sengol a monarchy and said that instead of it being installed in the Parliament House, the Constitution should be installed in its place.
Constitution is more important
SP’s Rajya Sabha MP RK Chaudhary demanded that the constitution be kept near the speaker’s post by removing Sengol and said that the constitution is important and it is a symbol of democracy. In the last term, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had established Sengol in the parliament. Sengol means Raj Danda, i.e. the king’s stick. He further said that if the country got independence by ending the political system, then the country was run by the king’s stick or the constitution. RK Chaudhary said that I demand that Sengol be removed from the parliament to save the constitution.
What did Akhilesh Yadav say?
After this demand of RK Chaudhary, Samajwadi Party chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav said that I think our MPs are probably saying this because when Sengol was established, the PM bowed his head in front of it. It is possible that he forgot it while taking oath and it is possible that our party might have said this to remind him that he also wanted something else.
