Did not take a break due to the flop of Zero
In fact, during an interview with Variety, Shah Rukh Khan revealed the reason for taking a four-year break from acting after the failure of Zero. Shah Rukh clarified that his break from films was not due to the failure of Zero. The actor said, âI try to make it as different as possible, keeping in mind the parameters of commercial cinema.
Talking about his film selection, Shah Rukh said, âYes, it should have songs, dances, fights and emotions. But can we still say something new? So, whatever films I did, whether it was Jab Harry Met Sejal or Zero or the ones that didnât do well like Fan, I thought it was an interesting film. I love that film. Some of the ones I like the most are the ones that didnât do well. And I have a reason for it.â
The films that did not work were very personal
The âDarrâ actor admitted that his big box office failures (Fan, Jab Harry Met Sejal, and Zero) were not that simple, and that could be the reason why they flopped. He said cinema is a mass communication medium. âIt needs to communicate very simply to a lot of people. It should not be intellectual. It should not be preachy. I always say it canât be moralistic. It should just be simple. Some of these films that didnât work were so personal that they were not that simple, they were so personal that they became very narrow,â King Khan said.
Why did Shahrukh take a break from films
Talking about his break from films, Shah Rukh revealed the real reason, âSo I didnât want to work, I just didnât want to act. I didnât feel like acting. Because for me, acting is actually very, very organic.â He further added, âThis break was not because of films. I have always said that the day I donât feel like getting up in the morning and going to the shoot, I donât want to work. It was the failure of films, to be honest, I was doing a film in January, and this one was in December. I just woke up and I said, âI donât want to shoot this film.'â
Shahrukh told, I called the producer and said that I donât want to work for a year. On this the producer said that you cannot stay without working for even a minute, so if you donât like the film then refuse it. Donât say that you will not work for a year. After this the maker called after one and a half years and said that I am really surprised that you are not working.â
