Story of Shani Jayanti (Shani Jayanti Katha)

Shani is the son of Sun God and his wife Chhaya. Sun God was married to Sangya, daughter of Prajapati Daksh. Sangya and Sun God had three children Manu, Yam and Yamuna. After some time, Sangya tried to maintain a relationship with Sun, but Sangya could not bear the brightness of Sun for long. For this reason, Sangya left her Chhaya in the service of her husband Surya and went away from there. Chhaya was also known as Samvarana.

Why did Surya Dev not accept Shani Dev

Being a shadow form, Svarna did not face any problem from the brightness of the Sun God and after some time, Shani Dev, Bhadra were born from the union of Chhaya and Sun God. From the time of birth, Shani Dev was dark complexioned, tall, with big eyes and long hair. Seeing Shani like this, Sun God refused to accept him. In anger, Shani cast an evil eye on the Sun and the Sun God turned black. From then on, both became opponents of each other.
