Kalash installation (Ghatsathapna)
Horoscope analyst Dr. Anish Vyas told that setting up the Kalash during Navratri has special significance. Kalash Sthapana is also called Ghat Sthapana. Navratri starts with Ghat Sthapana. Ghat Sthapana is an invocation of the goddess of power. It is believed that performing Ghat Sthapana at the wrong time can anger Mother Goddess. It is prohibited to establish Ghat at night and on Amavasya day. The most auspicious time for establishment of Ghat is after one third of Pratipada has passed.
If for some reason you are not able to install the Kalash at that time, you can install it in Abhijeet Muhurta also. The eighth Muhurta of every day is called Abhijeet Muhurta. Generally it is of 40 minutes. However, this time Abhijeet Muhurta is not available for Ghat establishment.
Materials for establishing Kalash (Puja Samihri)
Prophet Dr. Anish Vyas told that Maa Durga especially likes red color, hence buy a red colored seat only. Apart from this, for establishing the Kalash, an earthen vessel, barley, soil, Kalash filled with water, Molly, cardamom, cloves, camphor, Roli, whole betel nut, whole rice, coins, five leaves of Ashoka or mango, coconut, Chunari, vermillion. Fruits, flowers, garland and makeup box are also required.
How to establish Kalash (Kalash ki Sthapna Kaise Karen)
Take bath in the morning on the first day of Navratri i.e. Pratipada. After cleaning the temple, first take the name of Lord Ganesha and then light the Akhand Jyot in the name of Maa Durga. To establish the Kalash, put soil in an earthen vessel and sow barley seeds in it. Now make a Swastika with Roli on a copper pot. Tie Mauli in the upper part of the pot. Now fill this pot with water and add a few drops of Ganga water in it.
Then add 1.25 rupees, doob, betel nut, perfume and akshat in it. After this, put five Ashoka or mango leaves in the Kalash. Now wrap a coconut in a red cloth and tie it to Molly. Then place the coconut on top of the Kalash. Now place this Kalash exactly in the middle of the earthen pot in which you have sown barley. Along with the installation of the Kalash, a resolution is taken to observe the nine fasts of Navratri. If you wish, along with establishing the Kalash, you can also light a continuous flame in the name of Mother Goddess.
