In the nine-day Navratri, there is importance of worshiping nine different forms of Mata Rani. Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day after Navratri.
During Navratri, Goddess Durga is worshipped in every home and the entire atmosphere is filled with devotion. Many people invoke Goddess Durga at home during this time, observe a fast for nine days, perform havan and perform Kanya Pujan etc.
Keep in mind that before the start of Navratri, the house should be completely pure, holy and positive. Therefore, before Sharadiya Navratri, throw out such things from the house, which increase negative energy rapidly.
Purity is very important in Navratri. Therefore, before Navratri begins, clean the house thoroughly. Because Mother Durga resides in a house where cleanliness is taken care of.
Especially remove meat, alcohol and tamasic things like onion, garlic. If you worship Maa Durga while keeping these things in the house, then Mata Rani will get angry.
Throw out any broken utensils, broken idols, torn clothes or unused shoes and slippers at home before Sharadiya Navratri. These things increase negative energy at home rapidly.
Many people burn matchsticks and collect their sticks at one place. If you also have burnt matchsticks at home, then remove them before Sharadiya Navratri. Also, burnt cotton wick, incense or pieces of agarbatti should also be removed.
