In Coffee with Karan, Abhishek had said – ‘My grandmother was not well and she was in the hospital, that is why we wanted to keep the wedding private. However, we wanted to take the blessings of the people of the industry, so we sent them sweets. But Shatrughan Sinha returned the sweets.’
Abhishek further said- ‘To be honest, people were forgetting a very big reason why our family wanted to keep it very private. There was a sick grandmother in the hospital and my father said that ‘you know, we don’t feel good to go there and have a big celebration. Did I want to invite? Did my family want to invite? Did her family want to invite the whole world? Yes, but our parents together sent a card to seek everyone’s blessings and everyone agreed to it, except one person who returned it. And it was fine. It was Shatrughan uncle, he returned the card and it was fine. We accepted it back. You can’t please everyone. He is a very senior person and he has the right to his opinion.
