Shekhar Kapur On Aamir Khan: Whenever the veteran filmmaker of Hindi cinema is mentioned, the name of Shekhar Kapur will definitely be included in it. In the year 1987, Shekhar Kapur’s film ‘Mr. India’ (MR. India) was released. Actor Anil Kapoor, late film artist Satish Kaushik, actress Sridevi and Amrish Puri were present in the lead role in this film. But do you know that superstar Aamir Khan also wanted to be associated with ‘Mr. India’. But Satish Kaushik rejected him. Shekhar Kapur has disclosed this thing recently.

Aamir wanted to be a part of ‘Mr India’ – Shekhar Kapur

Recently Shekhar Kapur, director of ‘Mr India’ has given an interview to Times of India. During this, Shekhar Kapur has told that Aamir Khan wanted to be associated with my film as an assistant director. Shekhar told that- ‘At that time Aamir came to me in a car. He was wearing a racket and shorts in his hand, because he was coming straight from the game. Satish Kaushik was the Chief Assistant Director of Mera Saath along with the role of Calendar in Mr. India.

He immediately rejected Aamir after seeing him. Satish believed that he was coming by car as a junior assistant director. While I did not have a car at that time. Because of this somewhere Aamir could not connect with Mr. India. Which according to me was a great decision.

Happy with Aamir’s success

Taking his point forward, Shekhar Kapur has told that- ‘I appreciate that decision of Satish Kaushik a lot. If Satish had not rejected Aamir at that time, he might not have become such a big superstar of the industry today. I am very happy with the success of Aamir Khan and also with the decision that Satish has taken. In this way, Shekhar has said a big thing about Aamir Khan.
