Shells rain outside the temple, the unbroken flame of Mata Rani is burning inside, know where is such a temple

The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran’s capital Tehran was attacked on Friday. Relations between the two countries have never been good. But do you know that Azerbaijan also has an India connection. There is a Mata Rani temple where unbroken flame keeps burning for centuries. It did not extinguish even at that time when the war was going on between Armenia and Azerbaijan and Armenia was raining shells. It would be surprising to know that there is a Durga temple in a Muslim country. Let’s know the whole story of this temple.

It is called Temple of Fire
Azerbaijan is a Muslim majority country, where 98% of the population is Muslim. But there is an ancient and famous temple of Durga Devi in Surakhani area here. However, now there is no worship here because the Hindu population in the country is negligible. This temple is currently known as ‘Temple of Fire’ or ‘Atishgah’. This is because the fire has been burning here continuously for years. Fire is considered very sacred in Hinduism. That’s why the flame burning here is considered to be the form of Goddess Bhagwati.

Trishul decoration on the ceiling
The building of the temple is like an ancient fort. But the roof is like that of a Hindu temple. Along with this, the most prominent of the weapons of Goddess Durga, Trishul, has also been installed on its roof. The flames keep coming out of the fire pit inside the temple. Some writings in Devanagari script, Sanskrit and Gurmukhi script (Punjabi language) are also engraved on the walls.

Indian businessmen had built
It is believed that Indian traders passing through this route had got the temple constructed. According to historical evidence, the builder of this temple is Buddhadev, who was a resident of Madja village near Kurukshetra. The date of construction of the temple inscribed on the wall is Samvat 1783 and the names of those who built the temple are written on it – Uttamchand and Sobhraj. Most of the Indian traders passing through this route used to pay obeisance in this temple. At the same time, these traders used to rest in the chambers built near the temple.

Temple without priests since 1860
Historical evidence also shows that earlier there used to be Indian priests in the temple, who used to worship here daily. Earlier people also used to come here and worship the Goddess. Among the people who used to come here, there were more Indians, but the local people also used to ask for blessings here. According to the evidence available, the Indian priests here left the temple and fled in 1860. Since then this temple is without a priest. Explain that after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Azerbaijan became an independent country, before that it was a part of the Soviet Union.
