There are many historical and mythological places in the district known as Lahuri Kashi. Varah Dham situated on the banks of the Ganges, near Audihar Bazar of Saidpur tehsil area, also has a special place. It is believed that here was the hermitage of Shringi Rishi, who had performed the Putryeshti Yagya at the place of Maharaja Dasaratha in Ayodhya. There are many mythological stories about Varah Dham located near Audihar. According to the elders, Shringi Rishi’s ashram was once on the land called Varah Dham. Apart from other great personalities and sages, gods and goddesses also started arriving directly from heaven in his ashram located at Audihar. It is said that the son of sage Kashyap, Hryanyaksha, ruled South India. After getting the boon of immortality and immortality from Brahma ji, he made the earth his target. He entered the abyss with the earth, then apart from the normal life, sages, sages and goddesses also got disappointed with life.
