‘Siren’ Movie Review: Tamil action-drama ‘Siren’ will keep the audience excited

(Amitabh Budhauliya)
South cinema is known for ‘action-power and drama’. The much-awaited Tamil film ‘Siren’ (Siren Movie Review), released on February 16, 2024, seems to be carrying forward this tradition. Directed by the all-rounder of cinematic art, Antony Bhagyaraj, “Siren” stars Jayam Ravi, Keerthy Suresh, Anupama Parameswaran and Samuthirakani in lead roles. Yogi Babu has been hired to add comedy to the action. That means the audience is crazy about South films, they can definitely watch this film once.

‘Siren’ is an entertaining Tamil action drama. The film can be seen for its intense storyline along with powerhouse performances and adrenaline-pumping action sequences. As you know – Adrenaline is a hormone, which keeps your brain alive by stimulating it in an emergency, this film is also something like this. Whenever there is a fight between the hero and the villain in front of you, you will be sitting holding the chair tightly. There will be a feeling of excitement in you too.

If we look closely, the film has definitely passed well. ‘Siren’ is Bhagyaraj’s first directorial film. He has written the film himself. Before this he has been the co-writer of Annathe, Vishwasam and Hero. ‘Bhagyaraj’siren‘ has been successful in saving it from the imprint of its previous films. As Bhagyaraj had already said that ‘he wants to become a versatile filmmaker, will never repeat himself!’

‘Siren’ is a story of betrayal and injustice. Jayam Ravi, playing the role of an ambulance driver in the film, gets entangled in the murder case of a powerful person. Despite evidence of innocence, he is jailed for 14 years. Seeing his happy life engulfed in sorrow and struggle, the hero i.e. Jayam Ravi reaches the killer in his own way. The film has been successful to a great extent in maintaining suspense among the audience.

The story begins with a murder. That means the very first scene creates a sensation. Of course, ‘Siren’ starts as a crime thriller, but later on there is a lot of emotional drama in it. After the interval, the film is a mindless revenge thriller.

Bhagyaraj’s writing style has been appreciated earlier also. Even in ‘Siren’ he did not let the story slacken from anywhere. Every scene keeps the audience engaged. However, like other South action films, this film has also left an impression on the audience. As far as acting point of view is concerned, Jayam Ravi has played his character very well. His action sequels have also become better.

The film is strong in terms of cinematography. The action scenes have been shot better from the camera’s perspective. They thrill and excite the audience. The locations of the film also keep the audience engaged. ‘Siren’ has been shot at many places including Kanchipuram, Chennai. Although the film was initially scheduled to release in December 2023, it had to be postponed due to incomplete post-production.

The music of ‘Siren’ has been given by GV Prakash Kumar, while the cinematography is by Selvakumar SK. Edited by Ruben and stunts by Dilip Subbarayan. The film will probably be seen on the OTT platform – Disney + Hotstar in mid-March or end of April.
