Skincare: In winters the air is dry and cold due to which our skin becomes dry. Along with food, the skin also needs special care in winter. Eczema, rashes and allergies are common in cold weather. The problem of dryness in the skin is mostly faced by the elderly, people suffering from diabetes and thyroid. In an interview, Dr. Sneha Ghunawat, co-founder of Meraki Skin Clinic, Gurugram, has given some tips to avoid dry skin in winters. If you also follow these habits, then you can keep the skin soft.
cleanser
Instead of face wash, use a mild soap free cleanser for your skin. They do not remove the layer of oil present on the skin, due to which the skin remains soft in winter. Face washes contain foaming agents which create excessive lather and this leads to drying of the skin.

Moisturizers play an important role in keeping the skin soft in winter. Instead of body lotion, you should choose cream in winter because they are thick and protect the skin from dry air in winter. You can also use oil if you want. Applying oil before bath in winters helps in retaining the moisture of the body and keeps the skin soft and hydrated. You can use coconut, avocado and sesame oil.
long hot baths
Bathing with hot water in winters, where on one hand it gives relief to the people, on the other hand it also dries the skin. Bathing with hot water for a long time is not good for the skin. Actually, hot water dissolves the layer of oil present in the skin, due to which the skin starts getting dry.
vitamin D
As soon as winter comes, people are afraid to go out, due to which many times there is a deficiency of Vitamin D in the body. Vitamin D is essential for the skin. This keeps the skin soft and its glow.
cover the cracks
Apart from the face, keep feet, hands and lips covered using petroleum based lip balm and moisturizer. Due to this, they will not burst quickly on coming in contact with dry air.
