Skymet Weather Predicted India Monsoon Normal In 2024 Maharashtra Madhya Pradesh Bihar Jharkhand

India Weather Forecast: Private weather forecasting agency Skymet said on Tuesday (April 9, 2024) that monsoon in India is likely to be normal this year. More rain is forecast in the latter half of the season.

Scientists at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have also detected early signs of a favorable monsoon this year, with El Nino conditions subsiding and snow cover reducing in Eurasia. The weather office will release the monsoon forecast at the end of this month.

Skymet said the upcoming monsoon is expected to be ‘normal’, which may be 102 per cent (error of 5 per cent) of the long period average (LPA) of 868.6 mm for the four months from June to September. Rainfall between 96 percent to 104 percent of LPA is considered normal.

Where will it rain?
Skymet Weather expects fairly good rain in the south, west and north-western regions. According to this, there will be adequate rainfall in the main monsoon rain dependent areas of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

What will be the weather in which state?
The eastern states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal are expected to receive less rainfall during the peak monsoon months of July and August. Northeast India is likely to receive below normal rainfall during the first half of the season.

According to Skymet Managing Director Jatin Singh, “El Nino is rapidly turning into La Nina. The monsoon circulation becomes stronger during La Nina-related years.” IMD officials had said earlier this month that favorable monsoon-associated La Nina conditions are likely to set in over India in the latter half of the season.
