An 11-year-old girl from Firozabad was brought to SN Medical College, Agra for treatment. This girl had accidentally swallowed the pin, which reached her lungs. Along with bleeding from the mouth, there was difficulty in breathing. The patient was admitted to SN Medical College Emergency in critical condition, where his life was saved by an operation.

Dr. Reetu Gupta of the ENT department said that an 11-year-old girl stuck a pin in her mouth while wearing Ajra (a cloth covering the head). Due to coughing, the pin reached the windpipe. Due to breathing the pin reached the lungs. Due to this the girl started having trouble breathing and bleeding also started. Seeing this, the family got scared, took him to a nearby hospital and asked to take SN there.

When he was admitted to the emergency here on Friday, his X-ray was done. It showed a pin, which was stuck in the passage between the trachea and the lungs called the bronchus. Pin removed through bronchoscopy. Its length was 3.5 inches. The girl was discharged after her condition became normal.

-Do not give peanuts, popcorn, gram, coin, pin to small children up to 5 years of age.

-Do not press sharp objects including pins and needles into the mouth.

-Don’t talk or laugh while eating.

-Do not give small toys to children under 3 years of age.
