What material are airplane tires made of?
Airplane tires 45 inches are made with a compound compound of synthetic rubber. In these aluminum steel is combined with fabrics which are made from nylon and aramid. In these, nitrogen gas is filled with a pressure of 200 pounds per square inch. Nitrogen is an inert gas. Therefore, it is less affected by high temperature and pressure changes than normal air. Plane tires can also withstand a pressure of 900 pounds per square inch.

Why does smoke come out of the tires during landing?
When the tires hit the ground during the landing of the airplane, smoke comes out of them. This happens because when the airplane touches the ground, initially its tires slide instead of rolling. They slide until their rotational velocity becomes equal to the velocity of the airplane. When the velocities are equal, their sliding stops and they start rotating.

This is the reason why block patterns are not used on airplane tires like car tyres, because of the risk of breaking the block pattern. That’s why grooves are used in its tyres. Each of its tires can withstand a load of up to 38 tonnes. This is the reason why many commercial dimensions are fitted with 20 wheels.

How often is a tire used?
After airplane tires have been used approximately 500 times, they are removed from the plane to be retreaded. After this the grip is mounted on them again, after which they can be used again 500 times. In this way the grip can be mounted on it a total of 7 times. Accordingly, a tire can be used 3500 times, after which it is of no use.

Reason behind tire not bursting
Actually, the tires in which nitrogen gas is filled usually never burst, because there is no possibility of fire due to friction in these tyres. That’s why the tires of an airplane landing on the ground at high speed do not burst after heating up despite friction.
