Actually, Sonam Wangchuk has been protesting for a long time regarding various demands including the issue related to the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of the Union Territory (UT). The march led by Sonam Wangchuk, a well-known climate activist, was scheduled to reach the national capital on Monday but was stopped midway. The march called by Leh Apex Body (LAB) was to reach Delhi on September 1 under the leadership of Sonam Wangchuk.
Members of Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) were also in this march. The groups had announced that they will march to Rajghat in Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2024, while they plan a public meeting at Jantar Mantar on October 3. Both Ladakh groups jointly support four years of statehood for Ladakh, inclusion of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, early recruitment process with Public Service Commission for Ladakh and separate Lok Sabha seat for Kargil districts along with Leh.
